I hold her hands and press her to my breast.
我握住她的手，把她抱緊在胸前。
 
I try to fill my arms with her loveliness， to plunder her sweet smile with kisses， to drink her dark glances with my eyes.
我想以她的愛嬌填满我的懷抱，用親吻劫奪她的甜美，用我的眼睛吸飲她深黑的一瞥。
 
Ah， but， where is it？ Who can strain the blue from the sky？
啊，但是，它在哪裡？誰能從天空萃取蔚藍？
 
I try to grasp the beauty， it eludes me， leaving only the body in my hands.
我要捕捉美；它躲著我，只有軀體留在我手中。
 
Baffled and weary I come back.
失望而困乏，我回頭了。
 
How can the body touch the flower which only the spirit may touch？
身體怎能觸到那只有心靈才能觸到的花朵？

在不同的詩篇中，泰戈爾一再強調：美感是心靈的、是抽象的；如果你粗魯的出手捕捉它，它會立即躲開，甚至消失。

 這首詩的禪意有點像蘇東坡的＜赤壁賦＞，｢苟非吾之所有，雖一毫而莫取、｣在美感活動中，越虛心無私，心得就越豐富。美感不是世俗的物質，不能用時間或空間的數字形容它，那｢花朵｣｢只有心靈才能觸到｣。

｢誰能從天空萃取蔚藍？｣這麼巧妙的比喻，把美學中最深奧的道理用這麼簡單的文字表達得如此淺顯易懂！
